KUWAIT CITY, July 17: The Public Prosecution decided to detain Twitter user Hamed Bouyabes for 21 days pending investigation on the case of insulting a sisterly country, reports Al-Rai daily. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Justice has released its semi-annual statistics on cases filed at the Court of First Instance, reports Al-Qabas daily.
The daily obtained a copy of the statistics, revealing that the number of criminal cases filed at the First Instance Court in the first six months of 2023 reached 1,591; 16 state security cases; 486 domestic violence cases; 12 money laundering cases; 954 juvenile cases; 531 information technology cases; 46 cases against lawyers; 298 traffic violation cases; 2,196 environmental cases; 908 check cases; and 4,864 passport related cases. The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to simplify procedures, ease litigation and develop judicial structures.
