KUWAIT CITY, Sept 28: With the spread of COVID-19 in various sectors of the Ministry of Education, an assistant undersecretary of the ministry tested positive for the virus after a recent PCR test, reports Al-Anba daily. He was in contact with several of his colleagues in the ministry, due to which everyone of them had to be tested.

According to reliable sources in the education sector, the assistant undersecretary is under a two-week self-quarantine. A number of employees in his sector were also discovered to be infected with COVID-19 after they underwent the PCR test.

Meanwhile, a number of homeschooled students submitted a letter to the Minister of Health Sheikh Dr. Bassel Al-Sabah, urging him to personally intervene and address the Ministry of Education to stop paper-based (written) examinations, which start on Sunday, and instead use online platforms. Informed sources said the students handed over their letter to one of the health leaders who will present it to the Minister Sheikh Dr. Bassel.

In addition, acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Development and Activities Faisal Al- Maqsid has issued a decision to extend the registration for the kindergarten and primary stages for newcomers in the 2021/2020 academic year until the end of the working hours on Wednesday, October 28.
