KUWAIT CITY, March 15: The concerned authorities on Sunday issued hundreds of visas for Filipino domestic workers, after the suspension that lasted for more than a year, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting sources. Sources disclosed the domestic labor offices issued these new visas to workers from the Philippines in preparation for the signing of contracts by the Philippine Embassy in the coming days, in coordination with the ministries of Foreign Affairs, Interior and Commerce, and the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM). Sources said the new instructions regarding the recruitment of workers will be circulated to the offices, as well as the signing of tripartite contracts between the recruited agencies, new workers and employers.
Sources added the Ministry of Commerce and PAM will meet in the coming days to discuss the recruitment fees in light of the corona crisis and the high cost of new contracts. It can be recalled that on March 7, the daily published news about a breakthrough in the relationship between Kuwait and the Philippines regarding the recruitment of domestic workers.
